What we do
Globe Youth creates a space where LGBTQIA+ youth can feel safe, seen, and supported. Through weekly gatherings, mentorship from trusted adult volunteers, community education, and access to affirming resources, we work to nurture the emotional, physical, sexual, and spiritual well-being of every young person who walks through our doors.
Our volunteer-led Asset Team has been at the heart of this work since the beginning—offering consistency, care, and community through decades of service. In addition to weekly support groups, Globe hosts events and opportunities throughout the year.

Why it matters
The needs of LGBTQIA+ youth continue to grow—especially in a time when discriminatory laws and rhetoric are on the rise across the country. Youth in our community face real risks, including higher rates of suicide, depression, anxiety, homelessness, and social isolation.
According to The Trevor Project:
- Only 55% of LGBTQIA+ youth say their school is affirming
- Just 37% say their home is affirming
- Fewer than 1 in 3 transgender and nonbinary youth experience gender affirmation at home
But research also shows a clear path forward: LGBTQIA+-affirming spaces save lives. When young people have access to supportive environments like Globe Youth, they report significantly lower rates of suicide attempts and mental health challenges.
